This Book & DVD Set by Ted Mancuso focuses on the Saber, one of the original four basic Kung Fu weapons: staff, saber, sword, and spear. It is the third of the Plum series on “the four grandparent” weapons of Kung Fu and offers a comprehensive course on the Shaolin Pigua Saber.
The 80-minute DVD covers basic strikes, inward and outward wraps, history and design, stances from a weapons’ standpoint, left hand positioning and control, angles and directions, right hand placement, the Shaolin Pigua Saber form, and applications & usage.
The companion 206-page book includes photographs and illustrations that help practitioners experience the essence of Saber applications and usage. It also covers basics & strikes, a traditional Saber form, and core actions with higher challenges, making it more than a simple workbook.
