Chess Panorama is a chess book by Ishi Press featuring games and stories about the greatest players of the game. It offers a look at what top-level competitive chess is really like, with colorful personalities, scandals, and great blunders.
Inside are memorable episodes such as a Yugoslav grandmaster fleeing through a bathroom window during a simultaneous blindfold exhibition, a convicted murderer escaping police on the way to a chess tournament, and the pandemonium caused when the wife of Grandmaster Reshevsky injects herself into a game with Grandmaster Byrne. The stories are light in tone, sometimes humorous, and always entertaining, with game diagrams included throughout.
This book is a delightful, kibbitzing introduction to the world of chess that can entertain and instruct simple wood pushers and masters alike. Browse more in Accessories > Chess Books or compare it with Chess Informant - Issue 57.
