The author, Slobodan Mirkovic, has been engaged in chess since primary school. He has held the International master title since 1984, participated in several international tournaments, became a FIDE coach, and focused mainly on coaching from 1990. He worked with juveniles at CC "Partizan" from 1988 till 11999, helped found The School of Champions in CC "Rad" in 1996, and his students won 12 Yugoslav and SCG Cadet Championships and 5 BIH Cadet Championships. He also systemized about five thousand matches from top world chess players’ practice and created a ledger for work with young chess players; he is the author of chess combinations classification in the informative system of "Chess Informant".
