The Benoni Defence Taimanov Variation A67 is a chess title from S1 Editrice focused on the Modern Benoni, a defensive scheme against the Queen's opening.
The Modern Benoni first appeared, though only sporadically, in the 1920's, mainly through Hromadka and Marshall. It later gained wider attention in the 1950/1960 period, when it was revived by players such as Tal and Fischer.
This opening system is presented as an active defense that gives Black very few possibilities for effective counter-play or tactical subterfuges, making it a line that highlights the individual's combative talents.
