This book explores the Closed Spanish in the World Championship battles between Anatoly Karpov and Gary Kasparov, where the opening became Kasparov’s most common defence to the King’s Pawn across their five matches.
It focuses on the Zaitsev system, devised by Karpov’s long-time second and chief analyst Igor Zaitsev, and also covers a second system developed by Karpov himself for the most recent match. Written by International Master Anatoly Bikhovsky, former USSR Chief Junior Trainer and a leading opening theoretician.
