The attacking move 6 f4 against the Dragon Defense appeared in tournament praxis over half a century ago. White bypasses the heavily analyzed Yugoslav Attack (6 Be3, 7 f3 and 8 Qd2) and the well-tested Classical Variation (6 Be2, 7 Be3 and 8 00) in favor of immediate complications in the center.
It has been shown that, with proper play, White can usually maintain a slight and often tangible advantage in the two classical main lines: 6...Bg7 and 6...Nc6 (see PARTS 6-11). Two earlier tries, 6... Bg4 and 6..Qb6 (PARTS 1-2), have virtually dropped from contemporay play.
