This Syzgy title covers The Polugayevsky Variation of the Najdorf Defense, the dynamic and highly aggressive reply 7...b5 attributed to international world-class Grandmaster Lev Polugayevsky.
It is a striking opening choice for Black, known for its bold approach: six of Black's first seven moves are pawn moves, with flank play beginning before the center is stabilized. Despite this clear break from traditional opening principles, it has yet to be given a clear refutation.
