Nearly 30 players competed in a two-round, each-player system, with more than 600-700 games most likely played. The booklet includes a week-by-week description, then a game section featuring 37 mostly annotated games gathered from contemporary chess patrols and magazines such as New York Albion, The Turf, Field, and Farm, The Spirit of the Tims, The Sunday Mercury, New York Sun, New York Tribune, New York Herald, New York Clipper, and Daily Evening Bulletin.
It also includes 17 colour and black-and-white photographs of the players, player indexes, and the opening. Named players include G. H. Mackenzie, F. Perrin, J. Mason, E. Delmar, F. E.
