This hardcover edition presents Match Tournament for the World Chess Championship The Hague - Moscow 1948 - 75Th Anniversary Edition from Chess Informant. It marks 75 years since the 1948 Match-Tournament for the World Chess Championship in The Hague and Moscow.
The book is a new English translation of Paul Keres’ work, first published in Estonian in 1949 and later in Russian translation in 1950. It includes historical context drawn from excerpts of the contemporary Soviet chess press and from the memoirs of Mikhail Botvinnik. Keres’ original annotations to the games are faithfully reproduced, with some analysis supplemented by other masters, generally that of the other players.
This edition also adds historical notes in cases where Keres’ assessments of openings have been challenged or overturned by decades of tournament practice. Douglas Griffin presents the project as a valuable addition for chess enthusiasts of all abilities.
