Testbook Of Opening Traps by Joachim Beyer Verlag is a chess book for advanced amateurs and club players of a lower or medium level.
FIDE Master Gerd Treppner (1956–2009) compiled 120 instructive test tasks, each presented in multiple-choice format with two or three suggested solutions. The book’s second part gives detailed discussion of the tasks and their solutions.
The examples come partly from theoretical opening lines and partly from practical tournament games. The concept of an “opening trap” is also extended here to opening-strategic and combinational cases, where pitfalls must be avoided even when they are not traps in the original sense.
