The Isle of Lewis Chess Pieces - 3.5" King - Brown And Natural by Berkeley Chess is a replica inspired by the originals discovered on the Isle of Lewis off the west coast of Scotland.
These chess pieces reflect Berkeley Chess’s interpretation of the famous Lewis chessmen, now housed in the British Museum in London and in Edinburgh. The discovery story dates back to 1831, when a buried structure was uncovered after a sandbank was carried away.
The Lewis chessmen became widely known after being featured in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Experts regard the originals as the most astonishing collection of ancient chessmen in existence.
