The Mini Isle Of Lewis Series Chess Pieces - 2.0" King - Brown And Natural by Berkeley Chess captures the look and character of the iconic Isle of Lewis chess pieces in a compact form.
Originally crafted from walrus ivory and whales teeth, the original pieces were discovered near Uig on the Isle of Lewis before 11 April 1831. Berkeley Chess has interpreted that historic design into a beautifully detailed set finished in Brown And Natural.
Made in the heart of rural Somerset in the South West of England, each piece is created using traditional production techniques, a silicon mould, careful staining and polishing, and a protective felt base. The Isle of Lewis hoard consisted of 78 chess pieces and 15 other artefacts, and the surviving pieces are now held by the National Museum of Scotland and the British Museum. This Berkeley Chess interpretation reflects that enduring medieval legacy in a practical, collectible design.
