This Karate Weapons Kobudo Tongfa Tan Bo Naginata DVD features Brian Ricci and Frank Gaviola presenting traditional kobudo forms in the old school style.
The program explains how farmers of old Okinawa used the Tongfa in everyday life and in the farming of rice fields, while also showing the original self-defense use against the samurai who used the Naginata. The lineage is traced to Okinawan Masters Hiroshi Kinjo and Toyama Kanken, taught directly to Richard Kim in post WWII Yokohama Japan around 1952. The Naginata form was learned from Yoshida Kotaro.
Both Brian Ricci and Frank Gaviola are International kata champions in traditional and open tournaments, and their skill with these weapons is shown throughout the 55 minutes.
