Forgotton Genius Volume 1 is a chess book from Thinkers Publishing focused on Dragoljub Velimirovic, the former Yugoslav–Serbian chess grandmaster whose international career was shaped by political intrigues and a strong temperament.
Born in 1942 in a prominent family from Valjevo, Velimirovic learned chess at age seven from his mother, Jovanka Velimirovic, one of Yugoslavia’s leading female chess players. He became a grandmaster in 1973 and was one of the last players to develop a system or strategy so inventive that it carried his creator’s name.
This title belongs in our Chess Books category and is a strong pick for readers interested in chess history, Soviet-era competition, and original strategic ideas. You may also like Clearance - Together With Mamedyarov.
