The Gilded Zagreb '59 Series Chess Set, Box, & Board Combination from The House of Staunton brings together the Zagreb '59 Series chessmen, a matching wooden chessboard, and a premium chess box in one complete set.
The chessmen are full tournament-sized and feature a 3.875" King with a 1.75" diameter base. Each set is new and includes 34 Chessmen, including four Queens. The pieces are hand carved by master artisans, crafted from the highest grade woods, heavily weighted, and finished with luxurious billiard cloth base pads. The design includes reinforced Pawn collars, stylized Knights, minimal Queen crenellations, and two removable King finials: a ball finial (cross) and a more recognizable Formee cross.
The board is the House of Staunton Standard Traditional Blackwood / Bird's Eye Maple Wooden Chessboard - Gloss Finish, crafted in Spain with Blackwood (dark) and Bird's Eye Maple (light) squares, a Blackwood frame, 0.5" thickness, and a gloss finish. The Premium Chess Box is lined in green billiard cloth, divided, and features brass quadrant hinges and a lock & key. It is available with or without the House of Staunton logo laser etched on the lid.
