The Schliemann Defense - Vol. 2 - Classical Variation examines one of the most exciting and complicated openings in chess. It covers the line 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 f5 4.Nc3 fxe4 5.Nxe5 d5!? 6.Nxe5 fxe4 7.Nxc6 Qg5, a variation that is sometimes refuted but continues to appear in tournament play.
The middlegames are known for ferocious attacks on both kings. If the game does not end decisively early, the opening can lead to fascinating rook and minor-piece endgames, often with Black enjoying a powerful passed pawn on the e-file.
Grandmaster Leonid Shamkovich and National Master Eric Schiller continue their long-running examination of this line with fresh analysis and critical reviews of recent publications.
