Volume 1 covered the period before his early retirement, while Volume 3 contains his most recent games. Gata Kamsky was born 2 June 1974 in Siberia, Russia, moved to Leningrad at age 6, moved to the USA in 1989, and later became a grandmaster at sixteen. He is a five-time US Champion, six-time US Olympiad team member, the 1996 FIDE World Championship challenger, 2007 FIDE World Cup winner, and 2010 FIDE World Rapid Chess Champion. He was inducted into the World Chess Hall of Fame in 2016.
