The Imperfect 3.875" Zagreb '59 Wood Chess Pieces feature the classic tournament-style design inspired by the most popular chess set used in major international tournaments during the 1950s and 1960s, including the World Championship Candidates Match held in Bied, Zagreb in 1959.
This full tournament-sized set includes a 3.875" King with a 1.75" diameter base. The pieces are hand carved by master artisans, crafted from the highest grade woods, heavily weighted, finished beautifully, and fitted with luxurious billiard cloth base pads.
As an imperfect item, this set does not meet the House of Staunton's inspection standards. The reported defects include dark stains on the finish of the two Natural Boxwood Knights, a crack on the base of the Natural Boxwood Pawn, a hairline crack on the base of the Blood Rosewood Rook, cracks on the bases of the Blood Rosewood Knights, and a crack on the base of the Blood Rosewood Queen. There may be other minor imperfections not pictured. All sales are final.
