Korchnoi Year By Year: Volume IV (1992-2016) is the fourth and final volume of FM Hans Renette and IM Tibor Karolyi’s study of Viktor Korchnoi’s life and games.
It covers the period from 1992 until Korchnoi’s death in 2016 at the age of 85, and includes 208 highly instructive games and fragments. The book features fighting games, attacks, endgames, theoretical battles, time scrambles, classical and rapid play, plus 80 tournament and family photos, the vast majority published in a book for the first time.
Korchnoi’s late-career results include victories in Madrid 1995, Sarajevo 1998, Biel 2001, and Swiss championship success in 2011. He faced players such as Magnus Carlsen, Fabiano Caruana, Kasparov, Karpov, Spassky, Gelfand, Timman, Short, Ponomariov, Yusupov, Svidler, Uhlmann, Hort, Beliavsky, Piket, Speelman, Tiviakov, Adams, Sadler, Romanishin, Vallejo, Vasiukov, Sutovsky, Gashimov, Ashley, and Mark Dvoretsky.
