This volume focuses on exercises where you must make a sacrifice for a material gain or even checkmate. The first five chapters give a piece-specific hint, chapters 6-10 remove that hint but give you the target, and chapter 11 gives no hints at all. Many puzzles build on skills such as forks, discoveries, and pins learned in volumes 1 and 2. Most examples require thinking 2-3 pairs of moves ahead.
The series is aimed at the novice, beginner, and intermediate level player, and each of the five volumes includes over 500 puzzles.
