The Calvert Chess Set And Board Combination features The House of Staunton Calvert chessmen paired with a Classical Tiroir Display Chessboard.
The chessmen include a 3.5" King and are a detailed reproduction of the circa 1810 English Playing Chess Set design known as the Calvert Pattern. The set dates from around 1810, when white and red colored pieces were popular, and it features slender baluster stems plus the distinctive King and Queen with pierced floral crowns.
The included veneered chessboard has 1.75" squares, Walnut (dark) and Maple (light) squares, a Cherry frame, two drawers with individual compartments for piece storage, a satin finish, and the House of Staunton logo silk screened on the h1 square. Overall board size is 17.5" x 17.5" x 4.5".
