The Biedermeier chessmen from The House Of Staunton are part of the Camaratta Pre-Staunton Signature Series and recreate the look of a classic Victorian-era design.
This luxury chessmen set features a 4.4" King with a 1.5" Diameter base and brass weighted construction. The design is inspired by the Biedermeier antique chessmen produced in Boxwood and Ebony beginning in the late 1830s.
The set reflects the tall, slender profile and disc-like bases associated with Biedermeier chessmen. The bishops feature the distinctive sloped headpiece with its protruding staff, and the style draws inspiration from the more primitive Selenus design of the 18th century.
