The Collector Series Luxury Chess Pieces from The House of Staunton are a full-tournament sized chess set designed to replicate the original Staunton pattern Chessmen.
This set features a 4.0" King with a 1.8" diameter base. Each piece is hand carved by master artisans from the highest grade woods, heavily weighted, and finished with gold embossed English Leather base pads under the Kings and luxurious billiard cloth base pads on the other Chess pieces.
The set includes 34 Chessmen, including four Queens. It also comes with an Individually Numbered Certificate of Authenticity and an original manufacturer's plaque with adhesive backing for placement on the underside of a chess box.
A distinctive detail of this design is the open-mitered Bishop and Knight style, modeled after the noble steeds from the Greek Parthenon (Elgin Marbles).
