The Golden Collector Series Luxury Chess Pieces are a club-sized Staunton-pattern chess set from The House of Staunton, designed for players who value precise proportions, refined detail, and practical play.
This set features a 4.4" King with a 2.0" diameter base, crafted from the highest grade Boxwood and Genuine Ebony. The 34 pieces are hand carved and hand turned, heavily weighted, and finished with gold embossed English Leather base pads.
The design replicates the original Staunton pattern Chessmen registered by Nathaniel Cooke in March of 1849 and first manufactured by Jaques of London in September 1849. It also includes the open-mitered Bishop and Knight design modeled after the noble steeds from the Greek Parthenon (Elgin Marbles), plus a personalized Certificate of Authenticity and an original manufacturer's brass plaque with engraved production details and adhesive backing.
