The Grandmaster Series Gilded Chess Pieces are a set of handcrafted wooden chessmen from The House of Staunton, designed for practical play with an elegant finish.
Each set features a 3.25" King with a 1.325" diameter base, is heavily weighted, and includes luxurious billiard cloth base pads. The pieces are hand carved by master artisans from the highest grade woods and come new in a 34-piece set with four Queens.
The Gilded finish is hand applied to Natural Boxwood chess pieces to create the striking assortment of wood color options shown above. Because both armies are crafted out of Boxwood, they are highly durable and resistant to developing hair line cracks.
