The Grandmaster Series Gilded Chess Pieces feature a 4.0" King with a 1.65" diameter base. Each set is hand carved by master artisans and crafted from the highest grade woods.
These chessmen are heavily weighted, finished with luxurious billiard cloth base pads, and designed for practical play with long-lasting durability. Each new set includes 34 Chessmen, including four Queens, a standard introduced by The House of Staunton in 1993.
The Gilded finish is created by hand applying a finish to Natural Boxwood Chess pieces, producing the striking wood color assortment shown. Both armies are crafted out of Boxwood, making them extremely durable and highly resistant to developing hair line cracks.
