The Imperial Collector Series Artisan Chess Pieces are a full-tournament sized chess set from The House Of Staunton, featuring a 4.4" King with a 1.9" diameter base.
These chessmen are hand carved by master artisans and crafted from the highest grade woods. They are heavily weighted, with gold embossed English Leather base pads under the Kings and luxurious billiard cloth base pads on the other chess pieces. The set is designed to replicate the original Staunton pattern chessmen registered by Nathaniel Cooke in March of 1849 and first manufactured by Jaques of London in September 1849.
A standout detail is the open-mitered Bishop and original Knight design, originally sculpted by the Maestro, Frank A. Camaratta, Jr. With its downturned head, flowing mane, and aggressive facial expression, the Knight is one of the finest designs to grace the 64 square battlefield.
