The Imperial Collector Series Luxury Chess Pieces from The House Of Staunton feature a full-tournament sized 4.4" King with a 1.85" diameter base. Each chess piece is hand carved by master artisans from the highest grade woods and is heavily weighted for practical play.
This set is crafted to replicate the original Staunton pattern chessmen registered by Nathaniel Cooke in March of 1849 and first manufactured by Jaques of London in September 1849. It includes the open-mitered Bishop and the original Knight design, with a downturned head, flowing mane, and aggressive facial expression.
The Kings include gold embossed English Leather base pads, while the other chess pieces feature luxurious billiard cloth base pads. Each set also comes with an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity and an original manufacturer’s brass plaque with adhesive backing.
