The New Austrian Coffeehouse Series Chess Pieces - 4.0" King recreate the late Victorian Austrian Coffeehouse style, also known as Old Vienna or Viennese Coffeehouse chess sets, with the refined detail of the Camaratta Pre-Staunton Signature Series.
The King stands 4″ tall and the pieces are pleasantly weighted for a stable, playable feel. This design was influenced by the Staunton pattern and features broad bases, durable construction, and strong board presence. Each set is cushioned on plush green English Baize base pads.
These chessmen were a standard in Central Europe and appeared in major events such as Vienna 1898, Semmering 1927, and Karlsbad 1929. The set also comes with an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity and an original manufacturer's plaque with adhesive backing for affixing to the underside of a chess box.
