The Piatigorsky Cup Commemorative Series Chess Pieces honor the legendary Piatigorsky Cup tournaments of 1963 and 1966, featuring a 4.5" King with a 1.8" diameter base.
These chess pieces are hand carved by master artisans and feature a gorgeous distressed Mahogany patina designed to capture the look and feel of one of the actual Piatigorsky Cup sets. Each piece is heavily weighted and fitted with billiard cloth base pads.
This new set consists of 34 Chessmen, including four Queens, a standard introduced by The House of Staunton in 1993. The design balances practical play and elegant presentation in a classic chess set format.
