The President's Crown Of Thorns is the autobiography of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, President of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) from 1995 to the present. It reflects on the break-up of the Soviet Union and his rise as a young businessman during major changes in Russian society.
The book also addresses the widely discussed Chapter 8 title, "It only takes two weeks to have a man killed," in its proper context: the 1993 free elections in Kalmykia, his campaign to abolish the KGB, and the threatening call that followed. For more browsing, visit Uncategorised.
