The Supreme Collector Series Luxury Chess Pieces are a club-sized Staunton-inspired set from The House of Staunton, crafted to replicate the proportions of the original Staunton pattern Chessmen registered by Nathaniel Cooke in March of 1849 and first manufactured by Jaques of London in September 1849.
This set features a 4.4" King with a 2.0" diameter base and is made from the highest grade Boxwood and Genuine Ebony. It includes 2 different styles of Knights — the Classical Collector Knight and the Imperial Collector Knight — for a total of 38 Chess pieces. The pieces are hand carved and hand turned by master artisans, are heavily weighted, and include green embossed English Leather base pads under the Kings.
The open-mitered Bishop and Knight design is modeled after the noble steeds from the Greek Parthenon (Elgin Marbles). Each set also comes with an Individually Numbered Certificate of Authenticity and an original brass manufacturer's plaque with engraved production details and adhesive backing.
