Fischer’s story includes the 23-round Palma Interzonal, his 6-0 scores against Mark Taimanov in Vancouver and Bent Larsen in Denver, and his 6½-2½ victory over Tigran Petrosian in Buenos Aires. In total, he scored 36 points from 43 games and strung together 19 consecutive wins.
