The Washington Luxury Bone Chess Pieces are Early 18th Century (Circa 1770) Washington-style chess pieces from The House Of Staunton.
This set is known as the Washington Chess set because one was owned by George Washington during the 1770s. Washington's actual chess set is currently on display at the US National Museum in Washington, DC. One side is stained red, while the other side is natural camel bone.
Each piece reflects the original styling in fine detail: kings with unusual "spikey" crown crenellations, queens with ball tops, bishops with open mitres, knights as horses' heads, and rooks as turrents with highly detailed brick work. These are actual hand carved bone chessmen.
