The Zagreb '59 Series Chess Pieces from The House Of Staunton are a full library-sized chess set inspired by one of the most popular tournament designs of the 1950s and 1960s.
This set features a 2.875" King with a 1.3" diameter base. Each of the 34 chessmen is new, hand carved by master artisans, crafted from the highest grade woods, heavily weighted, and finished with luxurious billiard cloth base pads. The set includes four Queens, a standard introduced by The House Of Staunton in 1993.
The King comes with both removable finial styles: the ball finial (cross) and the more recognizable Formée cross, allowing you to switch between them. Reinforced Pawn collars, stylized Knights, and minimal Queen crenelations add durability for practical play.
