Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu Karate-Do is one of the most popular karate styles in the world today, and this full-color film captures it in a rare 1965 presentation filmed in Naha, Okinawa by Sensei Chotoku Omine.
The video features the style’s founder, master Shoshin Nagamine, along with Chotoku Omine, Jokei Kushi, Shinyei Kyan, Takayoshi Nagamine, and many others. It runs approximately 30 minutes and is presented in full color.
The many katas of this style are performed in full power, along with kobudo katas such as Kyan no Sai and Shirotaro no Kon. The presentation also includes unique ippon kumite sparring sets, conditioning exercises, and breaking techniques that reveal the essence and beauty of the style.
