The form is described as one of the most beautiful in karate's repertoire of forms and carries a history connected to Chinese visitors from Fukien Province and practitioners such as Bushi Matsumura, Kenwa Mabuni, Shinko Matayoshi, Gokenki, and Hohan Soken.
There is some controversy about how closely the form shown matches the original Okinawa-Fukien Hakutsuru kata, and this presentation is described as accurately as possible.
