The Burnt Zagreb '59 Series Chess Set, Box, & Board Combination brings together a full tournament-sized chess set, a matching walnut and maple board, and a premium storage box.
The chessmen feature a 3.875" King with a 1.75" diameter base. Each piece is hand carved from the highest grade boxwood, then burnt and carved for its distinctive look, finished glossy, and fitted with luxurious billiard cloth base pads. The design is an adaptation of the classic set used in major international Chess tournaments throughout the 1950s and 1960s, most notably the World Championship Candidates Match held in Bied, Zagreb in 1959.
The Walnut and Maple Superior Traditional Chessboard has 2.25" squares, a Mahogany frame, a veneered construction, a 0.5" thickness, a moulded edge, and a satin finish. The Premium Chess Box is lined in green billiard cloth, divided, and includes brass quadrant hinges, a lock & key, and the House of Staunton logo laser engraved on the lid.
