The 1849 Collector Series Luxury Chess Pieces are a full-tournament sized chess set from The House Of Staunton, featuring a 4.4" King with a 2.0" diameter base. The pieces are hand carved by master artisans from the highest grade woods and crafted to replicate the original Staunton pattern Chessmen.
Each set includes 34 chessmen, including four Queens, and is weighted with the patented weighting technique ("U.S. Patent No. 11,000,757”). The pieces also feature embossed English Leather base pads with the Forever logo, a beautiful finish, and a design based on the original Staunton pattern registered by Nathaniel Cooke in March of 1849 and first manufactured by Jaques of London in September 1849.
The standout open-mitered Bishop and Knight design is modeled after the noble steeds from the Greek Parthenon (Elgin Marbles.). The set also comes with an Individually Numbered Certificate of Authenticity and an original manufacturer's plaque with engraved production details.
