The Glass Eyed Lardy Series Chess Set & Board Combination is a reproduction chess set from The House Of Staunton that pairs classic French-inspired chessmen with a tournament board and storage box.
The chessmen are new and each set consists of 34 Chessmen, including four Queens. The pieces are crafted from subtly figured Olivewood and Rosewood, are weighted, and rest on green felt base pads. The Knight has white ceramic eyes with black pupils, and the original chessmen were offered in a variety of sizes with a natural finish that responded well to an occasional light buffing with a cotton cloth.
The set includes a Walnut & Maple Wooden Tournament Chessboard crafted in Europe. It features Walnut dark squares and a Maple light squares layout, a Walnut frame, a 0.5" thick veneered build, a satin finish, and Rank and File Labels.
