The Hastings Series Luxury Chess Pieces are heirloom-quality chessmen from The House of Staunton, created to commemorate the legendary Hastings 1895 Tournament.
This set features a 4.0" King with a 1.8" diameter base and a heavily weighted design. Each piece is hand carved by master artisans and crafted from the highest grade woods. The Kings include gold embossed English Leather base pads, while the other chess pieces use luxurious billiard cloth base pads.
The design combines the form, broad bases, board presence, and craftsmanship of Staunton Pattern Chess sets from the period with an original Knight designed by the Maestro, Frank A. Camaratta, Jr. The set includes 34 chessmen, including four Queens, plus an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity and an original manufacturer's brass plaque with adhesive backing.
