The chessmen are a smaller reproduction of the European Pattern Chessmen and have been used at major chess championship matches for the past ten years, including the US Chess Championship, FIDE Olympiads, Linares, Dortmund, and Wijk Aan Zee. Each new set includes 34 Chessmen, including four Queens. The set features a 3" King with a 1.125" diameter base.
The pieces are hand carved by master artisans from the highest grade woods, heavily weighted, and finished with luxurious billiard cloth base pads. The board is crafted in Europe from African Palisander (dark) and Maple (light) squares with an African Palisander frame. It is 0.5'' thick, has a satin finish, and comes with optional House of Staunton logo silk-screened on the h1 square and Rank and File Notation.
