The Reykjavik II Series Prestige Chess Set, Box, & Board Combination recreates the historic set used in the legendary 1972 World Chess Championship between Robert J. (Bobby) Fischer and Boris Spassky.
This full tournament-sized set includes hand-carved, heavily weighted chessmen with a 3.75" King and a 1.625" diameter base. The pieces are crafted from Genuine Ebony and Blood Rosewood, and each set consists of 34 Chessmen, including four Queens. The design also includes reinforced Pawn collars, oversized Rook ramparts, and luxurious billiard cloth base pads for durability and playability.
The board is the Superior Traditional Elm Burl / Bird's Eye Maple wooden Chessboard with 2.25" squares, an Elm Burl frame, a 0.5" thick veneered construction, a satin finish, and a beautiful moulded edge. It measures 22.5" x 22.5" overall.
The included Premium Chess Box is lined in green billiard cloth, divided, and fitted with brass quadrant hinges plus a lock & key. The set also comes with an Individually Numbered Certificate of Authenticity, an original manufacturer's label hand signed and hand numbered by Frank A. Camaratta, Jr., and The House of Staunton's Original Manufacturer's Plaque.
