The Capablanca Chess Set, Box, & Board Combination brings together a full tournament-sized chess set, a fitted coffer, and a matching wooden chessboard in one coordinated presentation.
The chessmen are crafted in the style of the Staunton pattern sets produced during the 1920s. This set includes a 4.0" King with a 1.875" diameter base, hand-carved pieces made from the highest grade woods, heavy weighting, gold embossed English Leather base pads under the Kings, luxurious billiard cloth base pads on the other chess pieces, and a beautiful finish. Each set consists of 34 chessmen, including four Queens. It also includes an Individually Numbered Certificate of Authenticity and an original manufacturer's plaque with production details and adhesive backing.
The board is the Superior Traditional Elm Burl / Bird's Eye Maple wooden Chessboard with 2.5" squares, Elm Burl (dark) and Bird's Eye Maple (light) squares, an Elm Burl frame, a 0.5" thickness, a satin finish, and a beautiful moulded edge. The fitted coffer features brass quadrant hinges, a removable top tray, a lock and key with tassel, individual storage compartments for each piece, and a laser engraved House of Staunton logo in the lid. It can also be personalized for gift giving.
