The Carton-Pierre Staunton Series Chess Set, Casket, & Board Combination pairs a reproduction Staunton chessmen set, a Carton-Pierre chess board, and a matching Carton-Pierre casket in one coordinated display.
The chessmen include 32 pieces made from polyresin, a crushed stone composite that offers the feel and weight of solid stone with the durability of plastic. The King height is 4.4" with a 1.65" base diameter, the median set weight is 78 ounces (pieces only), and the basepad material is billiard cloth. Recommended chess board size is 2.25". The chessboard features 2.25" squares, a 0.625" height, and a 20" x 20" footprint. The casket box measures 10" x 7 1/2" x 5" and fits King height up to 4.4" including 2 additional Queens.
This set is based on an original ivory Jaques production circa 1850, with a board inspired by the Carton-Pierre design used to complement Staunton sets in 19th-century London.
