The Zagreb '59 Series Prestige Chess Set, Box, & Board Combination is a full tournament-sized chess set from The House Of Staunton, inspired by one of the most popular sets used in major international tournaments during the 1950s and 1960s.
The chessmen feature a 3.875" King with a 1.75" diameter base, hand-carved craftsmanship, highest grade woods, heavy weighting, luxurious billiard cloth base pads, and a beautiful finish. Each set includes 34 chessmen, including four Queens, and both styles of easily removable King finials (crosses). The design also includes reinforced Pawn collars, stylized Knights, and minimal Queen crenellations for durability.
The board is a Superior Traditional Elm Burl / Bird's Eye Maple wooden Chessboard with 2.25" squares, an Elm Burl (dark) and Bird's Eye Maple (light) playing surface, an Elm Burl frame, a 0.5" thickness, a satin finish, a beautiful moulded edge, and a 22.5" x 22.5" footprint. The Premium Chess Box is lined in green billiard cloth, divided, and features brass quadrant hinges plus a lock & key.
